Event Overview

To celebrate "World Book Day" on April 23, the Cultural Affairs Bureau's Macao Public Library, the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, and the Macao Library and Information Management Association jointly organized the "Macao Library Week 2016" series of activities to promote a city-wide reading atmosphere.

Theme & Main Activities

This year's Library Week adopts the theme "The Book Waiting to Be Opened" and features a series of reading promotion activities from April to May.

Promotion Days (April 23–26):

• Venue: Old Court Building in Nam Van
• Highlights:
  • By Macao Public Library: Book Exchange, Overdue Periodicals Charity Sale, Book Crossing, and Pop-up Book Workshops.
  • By Education and Youth Affairs Bureau: Reading Accessories Workshops, Balloon Twisting Workshops, and Light Clay Workshops suitable for children and families.
  • By Macao Library and Information Management Association: Creative Reading Booth Games and a World Libraries Photo Exhibition.
• The opening ceremony will be held on-site at 11:00 AM on April 23.

Extended Activities (April–May)

Various libraries and reading spaces under the organizers will host related activities, including:

• Pop-up Book Puppet Show
• Exhibition and Award Ceremony for the 2016 "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao 4.23 World Book Day Creative Competition"
• Parent-Child Reading Handicraft Workshop
• Picture Book Story Workshop
• Collection Exchange
• "Master Lecture" Series
• Campus Reading Promotion Program
• Shakespeare Thematic Book Exhibition
• Children's Coloring Competition
• 6th Macao-wide Library Volunteer and Student Assistant General Knowledge Quiz Competition
