The red panda is a Class II protected animal in China. Like the giant panda, bamboo is its main food source. The pseudo-thumb on its front paws helps it climb trees with agility! Small and adorable, the red panda has a gentle nature, fiery red fur, and a tail with ringed patterns, earning it the nicknames 'fire fox' or 'nine-sectioned wolf'.
A pair of three-year-old red pandas, male '烙烙' (Làolào) and female '燑燑' (Tóngtóng), gifted by the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, are now meeting citizens and visitors at the Rare Animal Pavilion in Seac Pai Van Park.
While visiting the red pandas, don't miss the adjacent Macao Giant Panda Pavilion to see the giant pandas '開開' (Kāikāi) and '心心' (Xīnxīn). They, along with their twin cubs '健健' (Jiànjiàn) and '康康' (Kāngkāng), meet the public every Sunday from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
