Overview

The Macao Giant Panda Pavilion is located within the Seac Pai Van Park in Coloane. The building, covering approximately 3,000 square meters, is designed to integrate with the existing terrain, built against the hillside in a fan-shaped layout.

Pavilion Design & Facilities

The pavilion's exterior features a naturalistic design, with activity area walls wrapped in imitation rocks to create a landscape setting.

Main Areas:

• Indoor Activity Zones: Two zones, each about 330 sqm.
• Outdoor Activity Area: One zone, about 600 sqm.
• Support Center: Includes a veterinary room, bamboo washing area, bamboo storage, feed preparation room, feed storage, monitoring area, and medical room.

The indoor area is covered by a translucent membrane resembling a seashell, providing ample natural light. The design emphasizes greenery and includes features like pools and climbing logs. Specially designed automatic cooling artificial rocks help the pandas stay cool in hot weather.

Visitor Facilities:

• Two elevated viewing corridors allow for efficient crowd management.
• The outdoor area is open-air, preserving original trees. Visitors can observe pandas through large reinforced glass windows.

Supporting Facilities

Macao Giant Panda Information Centre:

• Converted from the former Natural Education Centre.
• Ground Floor: Multi-purpose hall for exhibitions and talks.
• First Floor: Themed exhibition hall on panda characteristics, habits, growth, and habitat. Features interactive games for children to learn about pandas and ecological conservation.

Macao Giant Panda Gift Shop:

• Sells panda-themed souvenirs, including plush toys, bags, clothing, stationery, and household items.
• Adjacent snack bar and open-air tea cafe.
