Overview
To raise social awareness about various addiction issues among youth, the Sunlight Association will host the "Sunshine Youth Opening Ceremony" from April 19 to 20, themed "Camp & Gather Sunshine Power: Power Off for 16 Hours." This event marks the beginning of a year-long initiative and will take place at Macau Fisherman's Wharf. The ceremony consists of two main parts: the "Camping Friends" activity and the "Perseverance Anti-Addiction Evening Gala.
Event Details
- Camping Friends Activity: 400 participants will engage in a two-day, one-night camping experience starting at noon on April 19. Throughout the event, they will be required to disable phone internet functions, symbolically "powering off" for 16 hours to resist temptation. This initiative aims to draw young people's attention to various addiction problems, including drug, internet, and gambling addictions, encouraging the public to reflect on and confront the dangers of harmful habits, thereby promoting addiction prevention messages.
- Perseverance Anti-Addiction Evening Gala: Starting at 5:00 PM on April 19, this gala is expected to attract 2,500 attendees. It will feature performances by singers from Hong Kong and Macau, as well as renowned speakers, to cheer on the "Camping Friends." A highlight will be a collective "power-off" ceremony at a designated time for all gala participants, aiming to be Macau's first large-scale "Mass Power-Off" event involving thousands of people.
