An original modern ballet production created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and to commemorate the patriotic people's musician, Mr. Xian Xinghai, who was born and raised in Macao.
The ballet traces the childhood life of Mr. Xian Xinghai in Macao, expressing how the hardships of his environment and childhood memories influenced his later creations. It illustrates that the making of a great artistic genius is inseparable from the details of life. Through its narrative, the performance also showcases the diverse richness of Macao's Sino-European cultural fusion.
In the early 20th century, young Xinghai was born by the sea in Macao. His father had already passed away at his birth, leaving him to depend on his mother and grandfather. The life of the Tanka people (boat dwellers) had a profound impact on his future creative work. As an adult, Mr. Xian Xinghai participated in the national salvation movement, moved towards revolution, and went to Yan'an! He created great musical works that inspired millions of anti-Japanese soldiers to fight bravely.
The ballet vividly depicts the mother-son love between young Xinghai and his mother, while also metaphorically representing the deep bond between Macao and the motherland.
