"Food is the paramount necessity of the people, and safety is the foremost priority of food." Ensuring a stable, safe, and smooth supply of agricultural and food products to Macau is vital for the region's economic prosperity and social stability. It serves as a crucial link in supporting people's livelihoods and the appropriate diversification of Macau's economy, making it a significant political task for the central government.
Over the years, under the strong leadership of the central government and with the comprehensive support of the General Administration of Customs, cooperation with Macau's regulatory bodies has been strengthened. This has led to the improvement of joint safeguard mechanisms, enhanced customs clearance efficiency, and the implementation of reforms such as pre-push quarantine, cooperative supervision, and end-to-end coordinated supervision models. These efforts ensure a continuous supply of fresh food and agricultural products from the mainland to the dining tables of over 600,000 Macau compatriots, effectively safeguarding their "safety on the tip of the tongue."
Coinciding with the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of Macau's return to the motherland, this photo exhibition is jointly organized by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China and the Secretariat for Administration and Justice of the Macau Special Administrative Region. The exhibition features four main sections, starting from the historic "Three Through Trains" that pioneered the supply route to Macau over half a century ago. It guides visitors through the "lifeline" jointly forged by the mainland and Macau compatriots, inviting everyone to review history, witness food safety cooperation, guard food safety, and embrace future challenges. The exhibition aims to deepen the public's understanding of the joint efforts by the mainland and Macau in ensuring a stable and safe food supply and to genuinely feel the care and support from the motherland. It also encourages citizens to take action in promoting and maintaining food safety in Macau.
