Ark Association of Macau Art (AAMA) presents the fourth installment of its annual thematic series, "Art Reprise," featuring solo exhibitions by five local artists. Each exhibition is inspired by one of the Five Elements (Wu Xing) – Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth – exploring the creative possibilities and unique expressions of each element through diverse media and styles.
This exhibition, "Wood.Ke," showcases the collage visual art of Macau artist Dophine Wong (Huang An'er), focusing on the element of Wood.
The exhibition uses the Wood element from the Five Elements as its creative concept. Wood is an indispensable element in nature, vital for purifying air and beautifying the environment. The artist combines wood materials with mosaic collage techniques to explore the artistic possibilities of this fusion and enhance the visual appeal of the works.
Reflecting on the Chinese idiom "people are not grass and trees," which describes humans as beings with thoughts and emotions, the exhibition invites viewers to contemplate the nature of love, compassion, and support for others. The artworks aim to inspire thoughts on what sustains love and to encourage viewers to appreciate the pieces from multiple perspectives.
Dophine Wong (Huang An'er) was born in Macau and holds a diploma in Fine Art Education from Northeast Normal University and a Level 3 Professional Collage Instructor qualification. She specializes in oil painting, woodcraft, and mosaic collage art. Beyond her daytime office work, she has years of experience planning, coordinating, and administering art events. She also participates in handicraft and creative cultural activities, such as art markets, exhibitions, and educational work, aiming to promote artistic creation and share the joy of making art with the public.
Ark Association of Macau Art (AAMA) is dedicated to promoting art and culture. Through various art activities such as exhibitions, talks, and workshops, it provides Macau residents with a space to learn about art, unleash creativity, and enjoy the fun of creation. The association aims to enhance public appreciation of art, improve quality of life, and offer an outlet to release stress and tedium from work and daily life through artistic channels.
