Lou Lim Ieoc Garden, also known as Lou Kau Garden, is named after Lou Lim Ieoc, son of the 19th-century wealthy Chinese merchant Lou Cheok. Construction began during the Tongzhi era of the Qing Dynasty (around 1870). The garden is designed in the Suzhou-Hangzhou style, featuring pavilions, terraces, towers, ponds, bridges, and unique rocks, fully showcasing the characteristics of classical Chinese gardens.
The "Chun Cao Tang" (Spring Grass Hall) within the garden was originally a place to receive guests. It is recorded that Dr. Sun Yat-sen was once invited by the garden owner to be a guest at Chun Cao Tang, where he met with prominent figures in Macau to discuss important matters. The Lou Lim Ieoc Garden was taken over by the government in 1973 and opened to the public for visits and recreation. Chun Cao Tang is now a major cultural activity exhibition hall, regularly hosting exhibitions.
This exhibition showcases the Chinese New Year customs of Hainan Province and the Tibet Autonomous Region, highlighting the unique cultural traditions of these two contrasting regions.
