The Macau Photographic Society assists the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau in organizing an annual thematic flower photography exhibition. This year's theme is hydrangeas, and we are honored to invite the renowned Hong Kong photographer Fung Man Yu to present the "Hydrangea Tale – Fung Man Yu Photography Exhibition."
Fung Man Yu has conducted over thirty photography lectures in Hong Kong and Macau. He serves as an advisor to multiple photography associations and a tutor for photography courses, as well as a columnist for magazine photography sections. He has published hundreds of articles and works on photography techniques in photography magazines. A pioneer in the field, he has organized numerous photography workshops abroad, emphasizing both theory and practice, and has dedicated himself tirelessly to promoting the development of photographic art.
This exhibition features hydrangea works that Fung Man Yu specifically traveled to Kamakura, Japan, to capture. The area is home to many temples that cultivate various species of hydrangeas, including many unique varieties. Beyond being highly appreciated by locals, hydrangeas are deeply integrated into daily life—nearly every household grows them in gardens or on balconies, and they are even used as offerings to deities. In this series, Fung Man Yu experiments with special watercolor and oil painting effects to highlight the beauty of hydrangeas and illustrate how flowers are woven into the fabric of local community life.
