Competition Introduction
In the 1930s, the fishing industry held a crucial position in Macao's socio-economic landscape. While the former fishing village has transformed into the 'Las Vegas of the East' and the economy has boomed, the traditional fishing industry has rapidly declined, becoming a sunset industry. To reintroduce the public to the clothing culture of traditional fishing, the Macao Port History and Culture Association is organizing the 'Fishermen Costume Design Competition'. This event aims to explore Macao's history and blend different cultural elements through the competition, offering a new perspective on Macao.
Participants are required to use traditional fishermen's attire as a design foundation, incorporating elements of Macao's cultural characteristics. Designers are encouraged to unleash their creativity to produce fishermen's costumes that embody Macao's unique identity and contemporary fashion elements.
