Exhibition Introduction
Organized by the Macao Museum of Art under the Cultural Affairs Bureau, "Ballad: Anime Aesthetics Contemporary Art Exhibition" was an exchange project for the "Anime Aesthetics Biennial 2017–2018". This exhibition explored anime aesthetics as an emerging field, developing towards cultural diversity, textual visualization, surreal virtualization, and cross-regional integration.
Participating Artists
The exhibition featured works from 17 artists and one studio:
- Mainland Chinese Artists (12): Ding Shiwei (Hangzhou), Tian Xiaolei (Beijing), Zhu Xi (Hangzhou), Wu Junyong (Hangzhou), Qiu Anxiong (Shanghai), Sun Xun (Beijing), Geng Xue (Beijing), Lou Shenyi (Hangzhou), Lu Yang (Shanghai), Tong Kunniao (Beijing), Liu Yi (Hangzhou).
- International Artists (2): Kim Junsik (Korea, based in Shenzhen), Harada Toru (Japan, based in Shanghai).
- Macao Artists (3): Li Yingwei, Leong Man Teng, Lau Ian Kuok.
- Studio: Inkman Studio (Shanghai).
Exhibition Details
- Artworks: A total of 46 pieces/sets, including oil paintings, ink wash paintings, mixed media, 2D/3D animation, ink animation, sculptures, video installations, and live painting.
- Goal: To present contemporary artistic creations within anime aesthetics, offering audiences a unique visual experience.

- Public Guided Tours: August 12 – October 15, 2017 (Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, 15:00–16:00, meet at the 1st-floor reception).
