Macau joins the global celebration of World Tourism Day on September 27, 2015, with a series of exciting activities for visitors and locals alike.
Key Activities
- World Tourism Day (September 27): Random lucky tourists arriving in Macau on this day can receive a complimentary souvenir from the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO).
- Annual Tray Race (September 27, approx. 3:00 pm): Watch hotel and restaurant waiters and waitresses compete in this thrilling race. Dressed in themed costumes, participants balance a bottle of beer on a tray and race from the Ruins of St. Paul's to Senado Square.
- World Tourism Day Cup Dragon Boat Race (September 27): Organized by MGTO and the Macau Sport Development Board, this special cup is part of the 2015 Macau Small Dragon Boat Mid-Autumn Festival Cup. Amateur dragon boat teams from across Asia will compete at the Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre.
- Macau x LEGO® Exhibition (September 25 – December 28): A special exhibition featuring LEGO® models of Macau's World Heritage sites, landmarks, and events. Locations include the MGTO Tourist Information counter in Senado Square and the Macau Science Centre.
Exhibition Details
The Macau x LEGO® Exhibition showcases:
- Models of major attractions like the Ruins of St. Paul's, the streetscape of Rua da Felicidade, and the Macau Grand Prix circuit.
- A large-scale map of Macau.
- A photography zone displaying works by local photographer António Leong (梁舜堯), featuring "Macau Landmarks x LEGO® Minifigures."
- The official LEGO® zone at the Macau Science Centre will also display the latest LEGO® Speed Champions Series racing products.
