The "Wood Carving Teaching Exhibition" is an event under the Macau Sculpture Society's annual artist-in-residence program. Visitors can learn about the entire creative journey of wood carving art, from conceptualization and material selection to the completion of a work. All tools and artworks on display are those used daily by members of the Macau Sculpture Society, offering an authentic and intimate look into the craft.
The Macau Sculpture Society brings together local sculptors to engage in artistic creation. While traditional techniques remain a core focus for learning, the society also encourages members to explore experimental sculptures and works that integrate three-dimensional installation techniques. This fosters a diverse creative direction for Macau's sculpture art. The society promotes and curates local sculpture exhibitions to facilitate artistic exchange between Macau and other regions, aiming to integrate local sculptures into the city's landscape.
The society also organizes two seasonal school outreach programs and an All-Macau Secondary School Students 3D Art Creation Competition annually to encourage creativity among young people. Other platforms for learning wood carving in Macau include the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau's Art Education Snowball Plan and the A2 Studio at the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau's Art Museum.
