The "Wonderful Nature" exhibition features recent ink paintings by artist Huang Nan. This showcase presents twenty exquisite works by Huang Nan, who studied for many years under Choi Tak Ki, the former Chairman of the Tong Sin Tong Board of Directors and former President of the Yee Yuen Painting & Calligraphy Association. The artworks cover a rich variety of subjects including flowers, plants, and animals.
Huang Nan is celebrated as a distinguished disciple of the famous painter Qi Baishi. He worked at Tong Sin Tong for many years, where his association with Choi Tak Ki introduced him to the members of the Yee Yuen Painting & Calligraphy Association. He received guidance from master artists such as Szeto Kei, Tam Wan Yau, and Lam Kan, forging deep artistic connections. Specializing in painting flowers, birds, fish, shrimp, and crabs, Huang Nan is also skilled in the art of mounting paintings and calligraphy. At eighty-five years old, he continues to pursue his artistic passion with dedication even after many years of retirement.
Huang Nan remarks that over forty years of artistic creation has brought him immense joy, humbly stating he is still learning and has much room for growth. He prefers to incorporate poetry into his works, believing it complements the visual imagery and better expresses the artistic conception. When inspiration strikes, he has been known to create two or three paintings in a single day. This is his first solo exhibition, and he hopes for a larger venue in the future to share his lifetime of masterpieces with fellow art enthusiasts.
