"What to Hold Onto?" is a solo exhibition by Macau-born artist Judy Lei, showcasing a selection of her site-specific performance works accumulated over recent years. The exhibition serves as a stage for presenting and organizing her artistic journey, featuring documentation through text, photographs, and video.
Judy Lei (Li Yujun) was born in Macau. She graduated from the Display Art Design program at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and holds a Master's degree from the Graduate Institute of Plastic Arts at the National Tainan University of the Arts. Her creative practice revolves around interpersonal relationships, drawing inspiration from people and events encountered in daily life. She primarily uses live performance as her medium to share with the audience the emotional encounters of each specific time and space.
The exhibition title references her performance work "What to Hold Onto?" from Chengdu. It reflects on the unique era of the pandemic over the past couple of years, questioning what one can grasp amidst external confusion, societal defocus, and general chaos.
