Exhibition Overview
"Wabi-Sabi: A Five-Artist Group Exhibition" presents the works of five distinct artists—Chan Wai San, Chan Ieng Cheng, Cheong Wan I, Chio Weng Chong, and Lao Wai Man—who each interpret the profound Zen aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi. This concept embraces the beauty found in imperfection, impermanence, and the natural cycle of life. Through their art, they explore themes of simplicity, tranquility, and the raw essence of nature, inviting viewers to contemplate a beauty that transcends words.
A total of 23 artworks are on display, featuring a variety of mediums including watercolor, ceramics, acrylic, and mixed media.
Featured Artists
- Chan Wai San: Graduate of the Macao Polytechnic Institute's Visual Arts program (Art Education major, Sculpture group). Her work primarily includes three-dimensional miniature models, watercolor, and acrylic paintings. She is currently a children's art course, parent-child art course, and workshop instructor at the Macao Museum of Art.
- Chan Ieng Cheng: Graduate of the Macao Polytechnic Institute's Visual Arts program, majoring in Chinese Painting. She enjoys creating with line drawing and watercolor.
- Cheong Wan I: Holds a Master's in Interdisciplinary Art from the Macao Polytechnic University and a Bachelor's in Visual Arts from MPI, majoring in Chinese Painting. Her work focuses on flat painting, expressing the minutiae and emotions of daily life through a dreamy and delicate style.
- Chio Weng Chong: Graduated in 2020 from the Macao Polytechnic Institute's Visual Arts program (Art Education major, Ceramics focus). She is a visual arts educator and her current work explores the interaction between humans and the environment through painting.
- Lao Wai Man: Graduate of the Macao Polytechnic Institute's Bachelor of Visual Arts program, majoring in Ceramics. She specializes in ceramic and painting creation, favoring a clean and sharp style.
