Organized by Alicia Hu Oil Painting and supported by the Creative Industries Promotion Association of St. Lazarus Parish and Fantasia 10 Creative Garden, with funding from the Macao Foundation, the "Tribute to Masters Series (Part 1): Classic Revival – Hu Yuanyuan Oil Painting Exhibition" opened on April 1, 2022, at Fantasia 10 Creative Garden.
The exhibition is a personal exploration of classical painting techniques and the artist's journey towards developing her own neoclassical style.
Exhibition Highlights
- Master Copies: The exhibition primarily features two detailed copies of classical masterpieces:
- A copy of "Le Printemps" (Springtime) by French academic painter Pierre-Auguste Cot.
- A copy of "Fardeau agréable" (Pleasant Burden) by French academic painter William-Adolphe Bouguereau.
- Original Studies: Other works include small portrait studies based on photos, such as "Wonder Woman," "The Little Girl Eating Dates," "The Girl in the Wheat Field," and "The Lily Girl."
- Artistic Journey: The exhibition reflects the artist's struggle between photorealism and classical realism, her process of learning from the masters, and her aspiration to fuse classical oil painting techniques with contemporary portraiture.
