Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, this exhibition showcases 60 photographic works by Chinese photographer Wu Xiaopeng, capturing the folk customs and traditions of the Shehuo festival in Longzhou, Shaanxi Province. The exhibition offers a raw and authentic look at the villagers' lives and spiritual essence, focusing on realism over aesthetic perfection.
Wu Xiaopeng is a member of the China Photographers Association and the Guangdong Photographers Association. He serves as a member of the Presidium of the Zhuhai Photographers Association and Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong-Shenzhen-Zhuhai-Macau Photography Alliance. He has also acted as an academic advisor for the Macau Salon Photographic Art Association and has been invited as a judge for the Macau International Photo Exhibition for four consecutive sessions (16th to 19th). His works have won numerous awards domestically and internationally, and he was named one of Guangdong's Top Ten Photographers in 2015.
The Shehuo tradition is a vibrant folk custom with profound historical and cultural roots, primarily represented in Shaanxi Province. It was included in the first batch of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2006. Wu Xiaopeng has visited dozens of villages in Longzhou over recent years to document this ancient practice.
