"Three People Paint. There Must Be One Teacher" is a joint exhibition featuring artists Lio Man Cheong and his students, Mak Tak Tim and Choi Sou Hong. The exhibition presents 30 works in watercolor and oil, exploring the artistic transformation of everyday scenes through masterful use of color, line, and light. The theme reflects mutual respect and inspiration among the three artists, guiding viewers on a journey to rediscover the artistry in daily life.
Lio Man Cheong Born in 1951, Lio Man Cheong is a Macau-based professional painter and Vice President of the Macau Artists Association. With a background in cinema advertisement painting and graphic design spanning decades, he now works primarily in oil, watercolor, and mixed media. His works have been exhibited extensively across Greater China, Japan, Canada, and Portugal, receiving numerous awards.
Mak Tak Tim A Macau-born civil servant, Mak is the Supervisor of the Macau Urban Sketchers Association and a member of the Macau Artists Association. He developed a passion for ink painting and later studied under Lio Man Cheong, focusing on oil painting for its vibrant colors and creative possibilities. This exhibition features his expressive yet figurative oil works.
Choi Sou Hong A Macau resident with a Master of Fine Arts from Macau University of Science and Technology, Choi serves as Director of the Macau Artists Association and President of the Macau Urban Sketchers Association. Since 2014, he has deepened his practice in watercolor under Lio's guidance, focusing on realist-inspired creations rooted in plein air sketching. His award-winning works have been exhibited internationally and are held in corporate and private collections.
This exhibition is part of the 2024 Artist-in-Residence Program organized by the Macau Urban Sketchers Association.
