Exhibition Overview

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, MGM Macau and the Art For All Society (AFA) collaborated to present the "Thought · France" art exhibition. The exhibition, themed around Sino-French cultural exchange, was held at the MGM L2 Art Gallery from May 17 to October 12, 2014. It featured 29 distinct artworks by four artists from Macau, Mainland China, and France, offering a refreshing artistic experience.

Featured Artists & Works

Four artists who navigate between Chinese and French cultures used various media and techniques to blend the new with the old and Eastern with Western cultures. Their works traverse time, history, and reality, embodying the spirit of mutual understanding and seeking common ground while respecting differences between nations and peoples—a precious cultural legacy of 50 years of Sino-French relations.

• Hong Wai interprets traditional Chinese ink painting through cross-cultural artistic expression.
• Guo Tianxi uses video art media to showcase the changes in Macau through her eyes.
• Yves Etienne Sonolet (Yi Fu) presents photographic works that contrast the real and the fake, the old and the new.
• Jia Juanli's paintings depict palace scenes and ancient court ladies, with hazy imagery that seems to turn back time to China over a century ago.
