Event Overview

The Macao Museum of Art (MAM), under the Cultural Affairs Bureau, has been organizing the "Macao Art Window" series since 2012 to encourage creation and promote the development of Macao's contemporary art. This edition of the Art Window features the theme "The Original Meaning of Solitude – Hong Wang Hai Photography Exhibition."

An appreciation session was held on Thursday, December 1, 2016, at 6:30 PM on the third floor of MAM.

About the Artist

• Hong Wang Hai was born in Macao in 1977 and is passionate about photography and literary creation.
• He often travels alone and views life itself as a journey.
• In 2011, he held the duo photography exhibition "Encounter."
• He has received awards including the Macao Literary Prize (Excellent Award for Fiction and Third Prize for New Poetry). Some of his poems are included in the "Macao Modern Poetry Anthology."

Exhibition Concept

The artist hopes to explore and reflect on the original meaning of solitude with the audience through his works. The exhibition examines how people in different countries face and respond to the various internal landscapes or emotional states of loneliness. While many fear solitude, it is not inherently negative and often harbors a certain strength. Learning to enjoy and appreciate the beauty and freedom of solitude can significantly impact one's quality of life and personal style.
