Macau is home to numerous traditional temples and has preserved a rich culture of temple festivals. This series of celebrations in October 2016 showcases various deity birthdays and traditional rituals.

Nine Emperor and Doumu Yuanjun's Birthday (Lunar 9th Month, 1st–9th Day): October 1–9
- Location: Nüwa Temple (at the junction of Rua dos Mercadores and Rua de São Paulo)
- Activity: An altar will be set up in front of the temple for worshippers to pray for blessings.

Pioneer Grandpa and Four Seas Dragon Kings' Birthday (Lunar 9th Month, 17th Day): October 17
- Location: Xianfeng Temple (29 Rua de Coelho do Amaral, Macau)

Huaguang's Birthday Celebration (Lunar 9th Month, 28th Day): October 28
- Location: Lin Kai Temple (25–31 Rua da Palmeira)
- Activities:
- The San Kio community will hold Cantonese opera performances to give thanks to the gods.
- Cantonese opera singers will perform for the elderly, promoting the traditional virtues of respecting and caring for seniors.
