The thematic exhibition "Swimming with Fish" is part of the Artist-in-Residence program. It showcases the reflections of six sculptors on the transformation of Macao's fishing industry through the motif of fish.
Macao is geographically surrounded by sea on three sides and became an important fishing port over seven hundred years ago, making fishing one of its traditional industries. The fishing industry was once a major economic pillar for residents and a crucial driver of social and economic development. Beneath the current prosperity and dazzling neon lights, one cannot help but sigh for the once warm and vibrant fishing port, which is gradually fading, evoking nostalgia for a simpler, more rustic way of life.
This exhibition, titled "Swimming with Fish," features six sculptors from the Macao Sculpture Society: Leong Tat Hong, Tong Chong, Wu Hin Long, Sou Leng Fong, Lau In Wan, and Tse Wai Fong. Using fish forms as their creative theme, they employ various familiar mediums to express their thoughts on the changes in Macao's fishing industry. Their creative mediums include wood carving, ceramics, stainless steel, and glass. A total of 7 works are on display.
