St. John Festival is a traditional Portuguese community celebration in Macau, commemorating the successful defense of Macau against a Dutch invasion on June 24, 1622. The victory coincided with the feast day of St. John the Baptist, who is believed to have interceded for the Portuguese. Since then, the day has been celebrated with thanksgiving, dance, song, feasting, and games.
