Exhibition Overview

This exhibition showcases a rich collection of Southern Chinese New Year customs and artifacts, highlighting the unique festive traditions of the region. It features woodblock New Year prints, paper cuttings, and clay sculptures from Guangdong Province; fortune-telling items from Hong Kong's Wong Tai Sin Temple and Cantonese opera programs; as well as nostalgic Macau items like old-fashioned barber tools, firecrackers, fireworks, and traditional piggy banks.

Live Craft Demonstrations

Guangdong artisans will be on-site demonstrating the creation of traditional Lunar New Year crafts:

• January 26–31 (Lunar New Year's Eve to the 4th day of the New Year)
  • Venue: Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau Gallery
  • Crafts: Woodblock New Year prints, paper cuttings, and ceramic mosaic.
• February 11–13 (15th to 17th day of the Lunar New Year)
  • Venue: Chun Cao Tong (Spring Grass Hall), Lou Lim Ieoc Garden
  • Crafts: Clay sculpture, olive pit carving, and lantern making.
  • Demonstration Hours: 10:00–12:00 and 15:00–17:00 daily.
