About the Exhibition
He Duoling is a leading figure in Chinese contemporary painting, known for his works imbued with a mysterious artistic language. This exhibition features nearly 50 sets of sketches and oil paintings. Spanning over forty years of artistic creation, He Duoling has consistently used a poetic and lyrical artistic language to express beauty—from his early precise realist style to the recent freehand brushwork that exists "between likeness and unlikeness."
Highlights
- Russian Forest Series: Several pieces from this series serve as a testament to his vibrant creativity. These works portray portraits of Russian artists such as Pushkin, Shostakovich, and Akhmatova against a deep forest backdrop, expressing the stirring forces of "earth fire" and the "spring breeze."
- Interdisciplinary Connections: The opening ceremony featured a special performance by the Macao Orchestra, playing selected pieces by Shostakovich. Additionally, complimentary poetry cards about the paintings were distributed at the venue, highlighting the cross-media connections and fusion between He Duoling's creations, music, and poetry.
