Exhibition Overview
The 'Splendor of the Han Dynasty' exhibition, co-organized by the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau and the Sichuan Museum, opened on December 14, 2012, at the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau Gallery. The exhibition ran until March 3, 2013.
The Han Dynasty was a glorious era in Chinese history and a peak period for cultural and artistic development, providing fertile ground for the creation and evolution of Han pictorial art. Many folk artists of the time used stone as paper and knives as brushes to create stone-carved artworks on buildings. Most of these pictorial bricks were unearthed in Sichuan and are now housed in the Sichuan Museum.
