Solitude & Contemplation – Sio Wan Ngai Solo Painting Exhibition
This exhibition is organized by the Macau Five Army Tigers Cantonese Opera Association, the Creative Industry Promotion Association of St. Lazarus Parish, and the Old Ladies' House Art Space, with funding from the Cultural Development Fund of the Macau SAR Government. The exhibition will be held from May 6 to June 28, 2025, at Room B06, Old Ladies' House Art Space, No. 10 Calcada da Igreja de S. Lazaro, St. Lazarus Parish, Macau, showcasing approximately 10 oil paintings on canvas.
Sabi (寂) is an aesthetic concept in Japanese culture, representing the beauty of "imperfection" and "impermanence," which is the central theme explored in this exhibition.
"Perfection" is a human construct, not an inherent quality of things. Yet, people often become trapped by their own ideals of "perfection." Sometimes events unfold as expected, sometimes not; they may bring comfort or discomfort. However, one should not become attached to or dwell on any particular outcome or feeling. People change, objects transform, and the world is impermanent. Clinging to pleasure makes one reluctant to move forward; wallowing in sorrow makes one afraid to move forward. Therefore, in the face of life's impermanence, whether in pain or joy, one should not linger but continue to observe and move forward slowly.
That is all. That is everything.
Art enthusiasts and the public are warmly invited to visit.
