"Soil: Macau, Hong Kong, and Taiwan Art and Community Exchange Project" is a cross-regional initiative that brings together curators, creators, and participants from Macau, Taiwan, and Hong Kong to share and practice community-based art.
The project title is inspired by a classical text: "Plough deeply and hoe carefully, enrich the soil generously, and strive with human effort to aid the land's strength." It poses fundamental questions about the relationship between art and community: What does it mean for art to exist in a community, especially in a small place like Macau? Where are these communities, and how do they connect? Is art placed in the community, or is it already inherently rooted within it? How is this embodied, who experiences it, and how can it be sustained?
This is not a project seeking a single answer, but a platform for shared practice and dialogue.
