Ox Warehouse's annual community art project for 2017 focuses on the Three Lamps (Rotunda de Carlos da Maia) district. This small roundabout, centered around a single lamp post, gathers a diverse community: those who grew up here, Burmese-Chinese who settled in Macau due to anti-Chinese sentiment, shop and restaurant owners and staff, students who pass through daily for classes and meals, elderly people gathering in the rest area, and migrant workers from Southeast Asia. They all live closely together in their own ways.
Together with participating artists and local residents, the project team engaged with various subjects and issues of interest within the district. Through different methods of exchange and research interviews with neighbors, the project presents stories related to the Three Lamps district and its residents to the public through artistic creation.
