Overview
Organized by the Macau Heritage Ambassadors Association, this city orienteering competition aims to deepen local youth's understanding of Macau's tourism development and cultural heritage. The 2017 edition introduces new challenges focusing on exploring Macau's World Heritage sites, particularly its historic defense facilities and religious sites. The event coincides with the 12th anniversary of Macau's Historic Centre being inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Event Details
- Target Participants: Macau residents aged 16–25
- Team Format: Teams of 3 people, 30 teams total
- Competition Date: Saturday, July 15, 2017
- Time: 2:00 PM – 5:30 PM
- Registration Period: From now until July 8, 2017
- Registration Method: Online registration system
- Deposit: MOP 100 per team (refundable upon completion of the competition)
- Application Form: Available at various schools, bookstores, the Central Library, or downloadable from the organizer's website
- Participant Selection: If applications exceed the quota, a computerized random draw will determine the final list of participating teams
- Pre-event Briefing: Wednesday, July 12, 2017 (evening). One member from each team must attend for instructions and deposit payment.
Prizes
- Champion: MOP 2,000 or equivalent prize
- 1st Runner-up: MOP 1,500 or equivalent prize
- 2nd Runner-up: MOP 1,000 or equivalent prize
- 3rd Runner-up: MOP 800 or equivalent prize
Competition Rules
- Participants must follow the designated competition route. The organizer is not responsible for safety outside the route, and violation may lead to disqualification.
- Participants must comply with the organizer's arrangements.
- Participants arriving more than 30 minutes late on competition day may be disqualified.
- Teams must arrive at task locations together.
- Leaving the competition midway will be considered a forfeit and may lead to disqualification.
- The top four teams with the highest scores win. Ties are broken by the shortest completion time.
