"Serious Game: Deng Guiwu Art Exhibition" was held from October 3 to 31, 2013. This exhibition was part of the Macau Sculpture Society's annual Artist-in-Residence program at the Old Ladies' House Art Space, featuring a curated selection of six three-dimensional works by the artist.
A philosopher once said art is the redemption of life. For the artist, creation is a form of play—a source of joy and satisfaction. However, over time, he realized that this 'game' requires sincere contemplation and earnest thought. Through this small-scale exhibition, Deng Guiwu shares works from different periods of his career, hoping to spark dialogue, invite critique from mentors and peers, and foster more exchange among those who appreciate or engage in sculpture.
Deng Guiwu, also known as Ru Chong, has loved art since childhood and initially studied Western painting. He began learning ceramics in 1989 and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts (Education) from the Macao Polytechnic Institute in 2007. He has remained dedicated to sculpture creation throughout his career.
