"Serene Breeze – Lin Jing Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition" is organized by the Rui Cunha Foundation. The exhibition will open on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at 3:00 PM at the Rui Cunha Foundation Gallery, featuring 22 selected works by artist Lin Jing.
Lin Jing was born in Macau. After graduating from the University of Macau, she obtained her master's degree from South China Normal University in Guangzhou in 2004. She has long served as an art teacher in Macau and is a senior educator and painter/calligrapher. In 2017, she won the Wynn Cup "Chinese Dream" Gold Award for Instructors. Lin Jing has been continuously engaged in artistic creation and is currently a director of the Macau Chinese Calligraphy Art Association and a director of the Chinese Calligraphy Alliance. To further enhance her artistic skills, she has diligently pursued part-time studies. In 2005, she went to Hong Kong to study under Master Li Ming of the Lingnan School. From 2006, she went to Guangzhou and was accepted as a direct disciple by Professor Wu Junming, Vice President of the Calligraphy Academy of the Guangdong Provincial Institute of Culture and History, leading to significant progress in her calligraphy. She also studied Chinese painting at the Guangzhou Painting and Calligraphy College. After graduation, she continued to take advanced courses in landscape, bird-and-flower, and figure painting at the same college, accumulating over ten years of study in Guangzhou by 2017.
Among the traditional Chinese painting circles in Macau, figure painting is relatively rare. Lin Jing has a particular fondness for figure painting and often practices figure sketching. Her subjects include classical beauties, scholars playing the qin, patriotic poets, generals on horseback, fishing fathers, heroic drinkers, devout Buddhist monks, as well as modern figure sketches, birds, flowers, and various animals. Her themes are diverse and rich. Her works have been selected for the Macau Painting and Calligraphy Joint Exhibition and the Macau Visual Arts Year Exhibition. She frequently participates in group exhibitions in Hong Kong, Macau, Guangzhou, the Pearl River Delta, Henan, Beijing, Japan, Australia, and other places.
