A retrospective exhibition commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of the late Macao master painter Lok Cheong (1923–2006). Lok Cheong made significant contributions to the Macao art scene. To honor his legacy, his family generously donated a large collection of his works to the Macao Museum of Art under the Cultural Affairs Bureau, leading to this special exhibition.
The exhibition is divided into five thematic sections:
Lok Cheong was proficient in both Chinese and Western painting techniques, skillfully integrating them. He was a keen observer who drew inspiration from real life. His work goes beyond mere realistic representation, offering profound reflections on reality. Notable oil paintings such as The Scavenger and The Motherland's Care: Delivering Rice depict the simple, moving, and genuine living conditions of ordinary people, revealing the artist's deep empathy.
Lok Cheong served as the long-term President of the Macao Artists Society, where he nurtured local artistic talent, united art enthusiasts, and tirelessly promoted cultural exchange between Macao and Mainland China. His works are imbued with lyrical qualities, consistently expressing his deep affection and nostalgia for his homeland and country.
