The "Sanba Collection" – a solo exhibition of Chinese paintings by artist Zeng Zhenzhen – presents a collection of recent masterpieces by the young painter. The exhibition is a cross-temporal dialogue, inspired by the poetry collection "Sanba Collection" by the Qing Dynasty painter Wu Li. Zeng Zhenzhen channels the essence of poetry through her brush, creating a visual connection that transports viewers back over 300 years to the Sanba College in Macau, using painting as a medium to converse across time and space.
Zeng Zhenzhen, also known as San Zhen, is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the China Academy of Art. Her doctoral research focuses on the Qing Dynasty painter Wu Li, who traveled to Macau twice to study Catholicism and resided at the iconic Ruins of St. Paul's. During his stay, Wu Li was exposed to Western painting techniques but maintained the elegance of traditional literati painting, emphasizing classical brush and ink. His time in Macau was dedicated to religious development, resulting in his poetry collection, "Sanba Collection."
Zeng Zhenzhen began studying Chinese painting under teacher Yang Jingsheng from a young age. She furthered her studies at the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, specializing in Chinese landscape painting, where she completed her Bachelor's and Master's degrees under the guidance of Professor Lin Haizhong. Her diverse experiences, including study and work in Switzerland and the United States, have contributed to her expansive artistic perspective.
Her works have been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Macau, Mainland China, and the United States, and are held in various institutional and private collections. She is currently a part-time lecturer at the City University of Macau and holds memberships in several prominent art associations.
