This exhibition showcases the nearly year-long learning outcomes of third-year students majoring in Space and Exhibition Design at the Macao Polytechnic University's School of Arts.
The exhibition is titled "Restart • Organic: Design, Sustainability & Change" because in December 2015, some students traveled to Thailand to learn how to use locally available, sustainable, and reusable materials to construct local buildings.
In today's busy urban life, people from all walks of life work hard to make a living, aiming to satisfy their desires and meet their material needs. However, have you ever thought about the items you discard when you no longer need them? Have you ever considered recycling these unwanted items or transforming them for reuse?
In response to contemporary society's advocacy for environmental protection and greening initiatives, this exhibition is built upon the foundation of recycling. We utilize discarded materials, primarily including:
We chose these materials because they are items you frequently encounter, overlook, or consider insignificant in daily life. This creates a point of balance. On one hand, it demonstrates that even the most trivial things can gain value through carving or transformation. On the other hand, it shows how the impossible can be made different. This approach can significantly promote the effectiveness of environmental advocacy.
The exhibition aims to present the dialogue between our works and the exhibition theme, conveying its core message to you. The purpose is to propose an idea for the future of sustainable environmental development, showing the public that many trivial things around us can become different and reusable with minor modifications. Simultaneously, it serves as a reminder for the public to cherish what they have and protect the land we live on.
