"Resemblance" is an exhibition by artist Chen Xin, exploring the expression of sensation and emotion. The artist views painting as an extension of emotion, with this series reflecting her innermost personal feelings. The untitled works are designed to provoke thought, touch upon universal human experiences, and express deep, ineffable emotions. The paintings incorporate the artist's experience of negative emotions, transcending the limitations of form and color to convey powerful sensations.
The "Resemblance" series breaks from the framework of traditional oil painting, marking the artist's first attempt at creation using a palette knife. Through the contrast of black and white, it expresses profound emotional collisions, abandoning traditional aesthetic forms to directly and sincerely convey a longing for redemption.
Pen name: Jin A Di. Born in Macao, she has felt a sense of inferiority since childhood but maintains a deep passion for art. She enjoys sharing her work on various platforms and exchanging ideas with like-minded friends. Currently a high school senior, she serves as the head of the student union's publicity department. Her achievements include being shortlisted in a fashion design competition and winning second place in the All-Macau Festival Product Design Competition. Painting is both her source of inspiration and an emotional outlet.
Through this exhibition, the artist explores a yearning for redemption, reflecting on friction within family, social interactions, and communication that ultimately leads to physical changes and discomfort. She expresses that while support and counseling are beneficial, many people do not actively seek change, accepting their reality as an unalterable life choice. The artist aims to convey that memories and imprints are unforgettable—not out of selfishness or inferiority, but because they are deeply etched within us, leaving traces that cannot vanish.
Free admission. Art enthusiasts and the general public are warmly welcome.
