"Plastic Tree" is a photography exhibition that aims to raise awareness about the global plastic pollution crisis.
Every minute, one million plastic items are consumed worldwide, earning plastic a place in the Guinness World Records as the "most widely used disposable item." Plastic bags have become a primary source of pollution, found in every corner of the Earth—from beaches and ocean depths to the Arctic and even the summit of Mount Everest.
Most plastics are non-biodegradable and durable, persisting in the environment for centuries. The problem is particularly severe in developing countries, where waste management infrastructure is underdeveloped. People often discard all waste without understanding the material's longevity, leading to plastic bags accumulating in the environment, damaging landscapes and farmland, and causing the death of livestock and wildlife.
"Plastic Tree" focuses on the plastic bags scattered across the Altiplano plateau: millions of bags blowing in the wind, entangled in local shrubs, and marring the beautiful landscape. Sadly, these images do not document an isolated situation but reflect a reality present in every corner of the world.
