“Perspectives of Landscape: Macao Museum of Art Collection – Four Photographers Exhibition” presents a unique visual dialogue through the lenses of two generations of Macao photographers, capturing the city's landscapes and inner vistas. The exhibition features approximately 50 works by veteran photographers Li Yutian and Ou Ping, active from the mid-to-late 20th century, and contemporary young photographers Huang Junjie and Huang Yunzhi.
Exhibition Highlights
- Veteran Perspectives: Li Yutian documented Macao's scenery from the 1940s onwards, witnessing the city's transformation and preserving unforgettable collective memories. Ou Ping captured the unique National Day arches built by Macao's Chinese community along major streets and buildings from the 1950s, leaving a distinctive photographic legacy of the city's festive landscape.
- Contemporary Voices: Young photographers Huang Junjie and Huang Yunzhi move away from the glamorous, casino-centric imagery. They use their lenses to express alternative, introspective perceptions of the city. Huang Yunzhi employs abstract forms to create new concepts and visual effects. Huang Junjie uses portraits and personal narratives to present a richer portrayal of Macao's society and its issues.
- Thematic Dialogue: The exhibition contrasts nostalgia for old Macao with explorations of the new city. It invites viewers to re-examine their living environment and discover the subtle relationships between people and society.
