How many decades are there in a life? Ten years ago, I returned to Macau from abroad. At that time, I had just experienced a serious accident in India, suffering a head injury and falling into a coma for ten hours. During that time, I experienced the fragility of the human body and the existence and struggle of the spirit. Upon waking, I felt even more keenly the impermanence of life and the importance of cherishing the present moment.
Looking at the development of Macau's art scene over the past decade, it has transformed from what was once considered a cultural desert to what can now be called its most vibrant period. We are fortunate to have participated in this journey and become part of its driving force. The path of artistic and cultural development is long, requiring the sedimentation of time and history to gradually mature, in an endless cycle.
Life is often rushed and busy, making it rare to have the opportunity to stop and look. The existence of artworks allows people to pause and appreciate, reminding us that life holds both joy and sorrow, fulfillment and regret. The past is gone, and the future is fleeting. Through the existence of art, its spirit can transcend time and space, unfolding in the present moment that is already perfect.
