In creation and in life, there is a constant need for reflection on how to avoid being assimilated by trends. In an increasingly absurd society where moral values are distorted and consumerism prevails, blindly accepting and applying these norms accelerates environmental destruction, erodes individuality and independent thought, stifles creativity, leads to homogeneous replication, causes traditional culture to fade, and makes human relationships colder, devoid of emotion, stories, and a sense of community.
The "Transformation & Rebirth" Ox Warehouse Talk invites four creators from different fields in Hong Kong to share their perspectives on repurposing, recycling, and environmental concepts, exploring the feasibility and significance of transforming these ideas into creative philosophies or practical applications.
He participated in "Summer Co-Learning at The Mills – Make a Garment for Yourself." He spent months at Ha Fa Chuen Square in Tsuen Wan, helping people transform old clothes on the street and operating a stall for repurposed cloth bags.
He focuses on community cultural issues and advocates for the integration of traditional crafts and community symbiosis. He has invited various craftsmen, organic farmers, and housewives to share and pass on traditional skills and living culture.
Raised in Macau but started her business in Hong Kong, she incorporates environmental concepts into commerce. Her own offices use many eco-friendly and green elements. In 2010, her green space renovation for the Hong Kong Green Building Council headquarters won multiple awards.
She creates large-scale mixed-media sculptures and installations using recycled materials like wooden crates, old furniture, and umbrella fabric. She actively participates in public and community art projects in Hong Kong and overseas, with works often based on cultural history and social issues.
