Exhibition Overview
"New Promised Land" is a multimedia exhibition exploring the concept of the "Promised Land" through the lens of Macao's history and identity. The title references both the biblical "Promised Land" and a local Burmese restaurant of the same name, symbolizing the search for a place of peace and prosperity.
The exhibition examines how Macao has been perceived as a "promised land" for different groups throughout history—from Portuguese colonizers to Southeast Asian immigrants—and questions the nature of the promises made by authorities, faith, and society. It invites reflection on what promises the current "paradise" holds for its inhabitants and how they should respond.

Participating Artists
The exhibition features three pairs of artists, each pairing a Macao-based artist with an international artist closely connected to the city:
- Kate, AO Ngan Wa (Macao) X João Garcia Neto (Portugal) – Explores colonial promises and deconstructs known and unknown "promises" in Macao.
- Reade, IAO Fong Lam (Macao) X CHANG Ciao Yu (Taiwan) – Investigates the "Promised Land" and divine promises through different religious beliefs.
- LAO Keng U (Macao) X Veronica BASSETTO (Hong Kong) – Engages in a video dialogue sharing evolving feelings about "paradise" and "promises."
