"My Tears Are Full of Daydreams" is a solo exhibition by Macau artist Kuok Che Kei, featuring approximately 13 Chinese ink paintings. Following her debut solo exhibition "Submerged," the artist immediately returned to the studio to create this new body of work, which serves as a self-exploratory experiment that builds upon her previous themes.
As noted by curator Wong Sio Hang, the exhibition continues the artist's exploration of incompatible imagery that subtly traverses the picture plane. Compared to her earlier work, this new series carries less weight and incorporates more humor, presenting a more diverse visual language and richer use of symbols. This fluidity offers a glimpse into the artist's evolving practice and generates anticipation for her future development.
Kuok Che Kei was born in Macau and graduated from the Macau Polytechnic University's Visual Arts program in 2022, majoring in Chinese Painting. She is currently a member of the Macau Artists Society, Macau Young Artists Association, Yat Yuen Painting and Calligraphy Society, and Macau Creative Space. Her work has been selected for numerous major joint exhibitions in Macau and mainland China. In 2023, she held her first solo exhibition, "Submerged," at the Rui Cunha Foundation in Macau. Some of her works are held in private collections.
