About the Exhibition

This exhibition originates from the locally produced photo fanzine "GALO," first published in Macau in 2011. To mark the upcoming publication of its second issue, this photo exhibition is launched under the theme "Moist and Salty."

Influenced by the spirit of Takuma Nakahira's provocative photography quarterly "Provoke" (1968, Japan) and the Hong Kong photo magazine "Mahjong" (founded in 2010 by Dustin Shum, Paul Yeung, Karl Chiu, and Wong Kan Tai), the photographers behind "GALO" are weary of the perceived dullness in the local photography scene. Through this exhibition, they aim to plant an "unexploded bomb" of photographic discourse in this culturally self-satisfied "desert city."
