Chikako Yoshikawa was born in 1948 in Otaru, Hokkaido. She graduated from the Sculpture Department of Musashino Art University in Tokyo. In 1974, she settled in Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture, where she established her studio and has been creating ever since.
Through her artistic practice, Yoshikawa continuously challenges and integrates the ceramic traditions of the Tokoname region. Her works, which traditionally feature animals and girls, have recently incorporated charming self-portrait motifs. The distinct tactile quality and physicality of her pieces reflect her own free-spirited, lively personality and a profound passion for creation.
Macau Art Garden is a five-story old bungalow that has recently been renovated with the support of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture into a brand-new art creation center.
Sponsored by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the Macao Foundation.
