The Macao Designers Association has organized the biennial Macao Design Biennial since 1994, the only professional competition in Macao's comprehensive design sector. With a history of 23 years, the 11th edition in 2017 is a highly representative design event across the Greater China region. Its goal is to recognize designers' skills through exhibitions and professional competitions, raise public awareness of creativity's importance for sustainable economic development, deepen understanding of the value created by design, and enhance the professional image of the design industry.
The 11th Macao Design Biennial exhibition opened on December 18 last year. The three-month exhibition is currently on display at the Macao Handover Gifts Museum of Macao, open to all residents and visitors. The Biennial hopes to bring more attention to outstanding and promising designers through various promotional efforts.
To allow audiences interested in design to personally appreciate the award-winning works on-site, this year's Macao Design Biennial extension event—'Award-Winning Book Tour and Experience'—will share the key success factors of some award-winning books and introduce the creative concepts behind the works. Participants can personally browse the award-winning books, experiencing the ingenuity of the book designers in the most direct way.
