The Macao Museum of Art (MAM), under the Cultural Affairs Bureau, has been organizing the "Macao Art Window" series since 2012 to encourage creation and promote the development of Macao's contemporary art. This edition's theme is "Material Life – Painting Fragments by Lo Un Ngai."
An opening appreciation session will be held on Thursday, October 6, at 6:30 PM on the 3rd floor of the Macao Museum of Art. Artist Lo Un Ngai will introduce her works to the audience. Admission to the reception is free.
Lo Un Ngai is a Macao-based artist who studied design and art in Hong Kong, Italy, and the United Kingdom. She has held solo exhibitions and participated in group shows in the UK, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. She is currently engaged in art creation, writing, and teaching.
Lo Un Ngai believes that in traditional Western art, pencil drawing occupies a "marginal" position. She uses it as her core medium to explore its role and significance in contemporary art. By painting ordinary, old objects, she leaves traces of faded life experiences and memories. The artist invites viewers to wander through a series of fluid narrative creations, perceiving the presented objects' reflections, sounds, tastes, and textures.
