Since 2011, the Macao Museum of Art has collaborated with the Palace Museum and the Shanghai Museum, successfully presenting exhibitions on the works of the "Four Wangs" and Wu Li from the "Six Masters of the Early Qing Dynasty" over the past decade. In 2023, they collaborate once again to present "Mastery in Hand," aiming to complete the artistic journey of the "Six Masters of the Early Qing Dynasty.
This exhibition meticulously selects over 180 works by Yun Shouping (also known as Nantian) and related artists from the collections of the Palace Museum and the Shanghai Museum. It is structured into three sections to comprehensively showcase Yun Shouping's artistic achievements and his profound influence:
The exhibition offers audiences a holistic view to appreciate and understand Yun Shouping's unique artistic charm and painting philosophy. It also encourages reflection on the "Six Masters of the Early Qing Dynasty" as a whole through the interconnections between exhibits and comparisons of creative themes. "Mastery in Hand" provides an opportunity for Macao residents and art enthusiasts worldwide to gain a comprehensive understanding of Yun Shouping's artistic visage. While appreciating his fresh, bright, and naturally innocent works, the exhibition also aims to promote related academic research and trace the path of his artistic creation and its influence on Chinese painting from the Qing dynasty onward.
