Live Music + Animation Thrill

Let your children be amazed by the power of Chopin’s music in a colourful animation telling the adventures of a 10-year-old girl and a truly amazing piano. From the producers of the Oscar-winning animation Peter & the Wolf, Magic Piano is a fun way for boys and girls to relax with their families while enjoying the sound of masterpieces played live in a concert illustrated by a fantastic tale on screen.

The Story

Magic Piano tells the story of Anna, who lives with her aunt in Poland after her dad had to leave to find work abroad. Together with her cousin Chip-Chip, she stumbles upon an old piano which suddenly transforms into a very cool flying machine. Soon, despite terrifying vertigo, both cousins defy fear and fly far away, from the Paris rooftops to London’s misty skies, where the little girl searches for her father to bring him home.

The Performance

Accompanied by Hong Kong pianist Colleen Lee, an awardee of the International Chopin Competition, Magic Piano will also take us through The Chopin Shorts, a humorous collection of short films full of lovable characters. Endorsed by Lang Lang, who recorded the original set of Chopin’s Études for the project, this amazing programme premiered in London and has toured New York and Melbourne, among other cities.
