Overview
The Madhouse Picture Book Culture Festival 2024 is an annual event dedicated to picture book reading. Organized by the Creative Industry Promotion Association of St. Lazarus Parish and Madhouse 10 Creative Garden, it aims to foster the development of Macau's picture book industry into a mature sector. Through exhibitions, talks, market stalls, interactive exchanges, and family workshops, the festival creates a platform for face-to-face connections between picture book creators, IP developers, readers, and the general public. It seeks to enhance public recognition of local culture and build a carnival atmosphere suitable for both professional exchange and family reading.
The festival hopes to use the vivid, fun illustrations and accessible narratives of picture books to inspire children to understand the importance of environmental and cultural ecosystem protection. By searching for Macau's local stories under the Madhouse trees, it aims to root environmental education in the community.

Macau Picture Book Themed Interactive Exhibitions
- Room A03 (Sep 5–26): Discovery・World – "The Birth and Evolution of Children's Picture Books" Series Exhibition. Explore the history of children's picture books through three main zones: History, Emotional Interaction, and Reading, focusing on works by Macau creators.
- Room B02 (Sep 8–29): "BRAVE GRADS" Picture Book Creation Exhibition by Colégio Diocesano de São José (4th School). A graduation picture book collectively created by the 2023/2024 kindergarten English section graduates.
- Room B05 (Sep 5–26): "Children's Heart Field" – Macau Children's Picture Book Tour. A program by the Macau Children's Literature Association promoting quality local children's picture books through interviews with creators.
- Room B07 (Sep 8–29): Gugumelo "How to Get to the Black Hole" Children's Picture Book Illustration and Puppet Exhibition. Featuring illustrations and props from the picture book, exploring the mysterious universe.
- Room B09 (Sep 5–26): "The Butterfly That Was Not Dyed Gold" – Healing for Readers. An exhibition related to the special education-themed work "Searching for Stars in a Sea of Lights" by writer Yang Yinghong.
